Peer Review Process

PENAOQ: Journal of Literature, Culture, and Tourism; is committed to maintaining scholarly quality, editorial integrity, confidentiality, and fairness throughout the manuscript evaluation and publication process.

All papers submitted to PENAOQ: Journal of Literature, Culture, and Tourism; must comply with the journal's focus and scope, author guidelines, and official templates provided by the editorial team. Manuscripts must demonstrate a clear scientific contribution or novelty relevant to the journal's disciplinary coverage.

1. Submission Requirements

Manuscripts may be returned to the authors without further evaluation if they fail to meet the submission requirements, are incorrectly formatted, or cannot be accessed or downloaded properly.

1.1 Originality and Independence

Submitted manuscripts must represent original and independent scholarly work by the author(s). The editor may reject a manuscript without external review if it does not meet the journal's quality standards, exceeds the prescribed word limit, is improperly formatted, is poorly presented, or lacks clarity.

1.2 Initial Editorial Assessment

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be handled by the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor. The assessment considers scholarly contribution, originality, relevance to the journal's scope, compliance with submission requirements, and overall presentation quality.

2. Peer Review Policy

After passing the initial editorial assessment, each manuscript is evaluated by two independent peer reviewers. PENAOQ: Journal of Literature, Culture, and Tourism; applies a double-blind peer review system, under which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.

Reviewers assess the manuscript's scholarly quality, originality, methodological appropriateness, analytical rigor, relevance, and contribution to the field. Their comments and recommendations provide the primary basis for editorial decisions and are communicated to the authors to support revision and improvement.

3. Revision, Confidentiality, and Timeline

  1. All submitted manuscripts are subject to the journal's editorial assessment and applicable peer review procedures. When revisions are requested, the corresponding author must submit the revised manuscript within the deadline specified in the editorial decision email.
  2. The peer review process generally takes 2–10 weeks from the time the manuscript enters the review stage. The actual duration may vary depending on reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, and the number of revision rounds required.
  3. Manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers must handle manuscript content responsibly and must not disclose or use unpublished information for personal advantage.
  4. Final publication decisions are made by the editor, taking into account reviewers' recommendations, the quality of the revised manuscript, and the journal's editorial standards.

4. Editorial Decisions

Upon completion of the relevant evaluation stage, the corresponding author will receive the editorial decision by email or through the journal's online submission system. The editor may issue one of the following decisions:

4.1 Resubmit for Review

The manuscript requires substantial revision before it can be reconsidered. The revised version must undergo another round of peer review.

4.2 Revision Required (Minor or Major)
